FAQs

The questions people ask before changing their phones.

If your question is about a particular number, contract or piece of hardware, send us the details. A specific answer is more useful than another page of telecoms jargon.

Numbers and switching

Can I keep my existing business number?+

Usually, yes. We need the number and current provider to check whether it can be ported. Please do not cancel the old service before the transfer.

Can I choose a new local number?+

Yes. Tell us the area code you want and we will check what is available.

Will our phones stop working during the move?+

Your current service stays in place while we prepare the new system. We agree the porting date with you and test calls once the number has moved.

Phones and apps

Do I have to buy desk phones?+

No. 3CX has apps for mobile and desktop. Some teams use apps only; others keep desk phones for reception or office staff.

Can staff answer calls away from the office?+

Yes. A user can answer their business extension through the mobile or desktop app, subject to an internet or mobile data connection.

Which desk phones do you supply?+

Amber Telecom supplies Yealink desk phones. We will suggest a model based on how the person uses it rather than assuming everyone needs the same handset.

Plans and support

What does the plan include?+

Each line costs £12.50 a month + VAT. That includes a local number, 500 UK minutes, the 3CX apps, voicemail to email, call forwarding and transfer.

Can I add call recording?+

Yes. Call recording costs £2 per recorded user, per month + VAT. You can add it only for the people who need it.

Why can the final quote differ from the calculator?+

The calculator covers the monthly lines, included minutes and call recording. Handsets, number porting, extra numbers and installation can change the final quote. We show monthly and one-off costs separately.

Can the system grow with us?+

Yes. Users, numbers and call routes can be added later. Tell us about likely changes when we design the first setup.

What happens if we need help?+

Call 020 8099 9250 or email sales@amber-telecom.com. If you are already a customer, include the affected number and a short description of the problem.
